Art Show Success!!
It was so amazing to see everyone's hard work come to fruition last night. There were so many awesome projects to see!! I loved seeing the different themes- from fall scenes, to Remembrance Day tributes, Canadian symbols and Halloween Day of the Dead skulls!! This was such a great way to share our experiences and gather ideas for our future classrooms. It made such a difference to actually SEE the projects made rather than just seeing/reading a lesson plan outlining the details of HOW to create the projects. It was so cool to see students from all the schools come and bring their families to see their art displayed!! You could see their excitement from the moment they walked through the door. Grabbing their mom or dads hands and pulling them in as they frantically search for their teacher and their art work. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on their faces as they saw their art displayed in a REAL art show. Overall I thought it went so well and everyone's hard work payed off in a big way!!!:)
I agree Jesslyn, it's awesome to share and see other people's neat ideas. There were so many projects that I would like to use when I get a classroom one day! We always talk about what we did in pracitcum, but this was one instance where we brought evidence..which is more real some how?
ReplyDeleteI also agree. It was an absolute success. After I had my first student come (and almost bring tears to my eyes) I thought even if I don't have another student come, the happiness that this one student felt along with her proud parents made it all worth it. I ended up getting 3 students out of my 7 and had the best time sharing this experience with them and their families.
ReplyDeleteIt was also so interesting to see all of the other projects and how different they all were. I encouraged all my students to walk through and get some ideas for their next art masterpiece :)
This post and comments have emphasized for me that it is a good thing to do to provide "real" learning experiences for teacher candidates, even if it seems a bit overwhelming when they are first introduced. Thanks to all of you for your enthusiastic participation - that's what made the variety of art projects that we could all learn from.
